Natalie Duckett, a graduating student from the University of Dundee has produced this alarm clock made from an elm log with brass components. “The signal is not an electronic buzz but a mechanical imitation of a woodpecker drumming against a tree. My users have to find a material; surface or object for the woodpecker’s beak to drum against to listen to it.”
