Lincoln Kayiwa

Lincoln Kayiwa is a young, Finnish designer who graduated as a Master of Arts from the University of Art and Design Helsinki UIAH in 2007.

Lincoln contacted us to say, “Upon graduating, I started my own brand product design company KAYIWA - an epitome of novelty, aesthetics, functionality and environmental friendliness.”

“I would like you to include my TUKAANI eating device design on your page. TUKAANI is Finnish for the toucan bird species. The sterling silver TUKAANI is a hand made eating device for Asian food consumers in the West. It may be held as traditional chopsticks. But unlike the disposable wooden chopsticks, TUKAANI is both machine and hand washable and much easier to set on – and use at table. The matt surface and taut movement allow steady grip in the hand. The curl at the end of the TUKAANI provides eased food picking and delivery to the mouth. The loop also allows easier hanging, storage and display. The Toucan’s bill provided inspiration for this cutlery project.”

Really, really nice design from the multi-talented Didier Gomez. His furniture design and interiors are exquisite, and his Flash-based website isn’t half as annoying as I know it should be.

100% Chocolate Cafe

A rummage around on Ffffound led me to this picture, and then to a post on The Dieline about the 100% Chocolate Cafe in Tokyo. That packaging is simple, sexy and bold; a corking use of typography and bold colour palette. You can see more shots on the original post on The Dieline.

SeymourPowell

Julien at the previously featured Sennep emailed to let us know that they’ve just finished a rather dapper Flash site for SeymourPowell. You can read a bit more about the development of the site below.

“From designing the first cordless kettle in the 80’s to the conceptual interior of Virgin Galactic tourist spacecraft Seymourpowell’s portfolio is vast and varied. Sennep has designed a website that focuses on 12 case studies that demonstrate SP’s approach to create intelligent products that help people and businesses. The website has an extensive CMS that allows SP to update most of the website content and to create tailored portfolios for potential new clients. Don’t forget to rollover and click on the cards on the homepage :)
