Time to get your creative hats on again, with another competition brought to you from Beck’s. Part of the Beck’s Fusion project this year is the Live Studio - a challenge for artists and designers to create a piece of art to the length of the track ‘Dawn Of The Dead’ by the band Does It Offend You Yeah, whilst being filmed.
Fabienne Nicholas from CAS, John Squire, Peter Saville and Francesca Gavin will form the Fusions panel who will be judging all of the entries. The panel will then go onto select ten of the best entries, whose art will then be displayed at the final Fusions gig in Manchester on 6th September.

Dirty Mouse favourites Graham and Rob (AKA Teacake Design) have been in touch to bang the drum for their end year show. Their work is ace - they’ve sent me some corking pieces including that dapper invite pictured above.
They wrote, “We are two soon to be graduated students from Manchester School of Art Working under the alias Teacake we have built a strong portfolio of type led graphic design.Teacake is something quintessentially British, inventive and conscientious. We love visual organisation, people, places and creating a tangible interaction with those who see our work. This has subsequently led to us having a strong affiliation with design for print and a passionate obsession with typography and identity. Humour, irony and visual puns embody our work and we have developed a strong interest in copy writing.”
The Degree Show is open to the public from Saturday, 14th June until Sunday, 22nd June 10am - 4pm in the Chatham Building, All Saints Park, Manchester School of Art. If you can’t make the show then see their work on their blog or on their main site.

Adam Morris has let us know of some ace updates to his portfolio. He’s about to graduate, and with a strong body of work like that I’m sure he’ll be beating off prospective employers with a big stick. Apart from the one he wants to work for, natch.

Rather dapper work off yet more talented students hailing out of Manchester, this time in the form of Rob and Graham who together make up Teacake Design. They also have a good blog running too.
As an aside, what is it with the amount of good design and designers Manchester is churning out of late? It seems to be coming a northern design Mecca…
