We received the above images from the Elise Island project, the transformation of a children psychiatric clinic, in the German capital. The clinic is called ‘Evangelisches Konigin Elisabeth Krankenhaus’ (KEH) and has created a holistic dreamland for young patients with psychiatric issues. With the :: dan pearlman creative agency cooperation, each room was designed in terms of shape, color, materials, light and air, with the aim of promoting a positive atmosphere of security and shelter, empowering children’s imagination and positive emotions. “The design of a modern therapeutic environment, ‘patient friendly’ is the priority of our concept,” said the director of the KEH, Dr. Rainer Norden, “we expect that a reference project has been created.”
This story is an example that design does have to have sustainability. With actual issues such as economic crisis and climate change, among other problems, it is quite obvious that there is a need for improvement for the society we have created for ourselves.

So, I was on my way out to work this morning when the postie knocks with a 5-foot tall package. John from Pimp My Art had kindly sent us some huge samples from his excellent range. If you follow the Dirty Mouse Twitter stream you’d have seen that I posted a couple of pics (here and here) from my iPhone. Without wanting to sound all sales-y, I am genuinely impressed with the quality of the artwork and the product, and would not hesitate to purchase a couple more - even my wife loves them. Check out their site, and especially collection 3, which is spot-on.

A nice bit of interior design here from Nucleo, who decked out the interior for the Iris Ceramica Ritmo and Velvet tiles collection showroom. “The project aims to fragment and destruct. To reduce aggregated forms to elementary geometry. Nothing more and nothing less than volume, crucial and bearing structure, strength and vital consistency of materials.”

Mono, a Minneapolis-based advertising agency, have one hell of an office space to work in. I’m drooling just looking at the Flickr set.
Guests are greeted with modern, finished concrete floors that are still covered in flicks of color from the old print shop, and bright white walls, accented with the same blue that greets them from the street. The blue is used for the conference room doors and old barn doors that slide open to reveal the space. Work “pods” surround the heart of the office, instead of traditional cubicles.
Mono co-founder Chris Lange collaborated with architect Charlie Lazor, of Lazor Office and Flatpak House to overhaul this space and make it a place where creative ideas truly have a place to roam free.

Looking onto one of the most beautiful squares in Soho, Spread Design branded and created a much talked about stylish and vibrant environment, providing the perfect backdrop for the West End crowds.
Graphic Bar, located in the beautiful, media hub of Golden Square has had a make over. Graphic will be collaborating with a different graphic artist every six months, who’ll use the bar to showcase their creative creations. The highly acclaimed Ben Allen has been the first to use the bar to exhibit his creations. A new artist will be invited in every six months to showcase their designs at Graphic.
Thanks to Rhiannon for the pictures.
