Claesson Koivisto Rune

Claesson Koivisto Rune

You know, I have no idea which pieces of work to showcase from Claesson Koivisto Rune as there is so much good stuff to look at. There’s a pool of dribble on the desk, I have been salivating that much at their work. From full house design to interiors to product design, the Stockholm-based agency have one of the very best portfolios of work around. Thanks to Mårten, Eero & Ola for the email.

i29

i29

The latest project of i29 is a residence at the Singel, Amsterdam (NL). This exists from one open space where several functions have been put into freestanding objects. The kitchen and wardrobe are placed near the entrance and combined into one single volume.

The bath- and bedroom is hided into a volume which is placed at back of the house. From the open living area you look alongside the volume towards the vertical garden and the entrance stairs to the roof terrace. The view on the green wall holds a promise in itself which will be redeemed once you enter the bed/bathroom.

Elise Island // Dan Pearlman

Elise Island // Dan Pearlman

We received the above images from the Elise Island project, the transformation of a children psychiatric clinic, in the German capital. The clinic is called ‘Evangelisches Konigin Elisabeth Krankenhaus’ (KEH) and has created a holistic dreamland for young patients with psychiatric issues. With the :: dan pearlman creative agency cooperation, each room was designed in terms of shape, color, materials, light and air, with the aim of promoting a positive atmosphere of security and shelter, empowering children’s imagination and positive emotions. “The design of a modern therapeutic environment, ‘patient friendly’ is the priority of our concept,” said the director of the KEH, Dr. Rainer Norden, “we expect that a reference project has been created.”

This story is an example that design does have to have sustainability. With actual issues such as economic crisis and climate change, among other problems, it is quite obvious that there is a need for improvement for the society we have created for ourselves.
