Design and Design

Design and Design

Marc Praquin informed us about a nice book he has actively been working on with his design team. The 730 designs awarded each year are published for free in the design and design book of the year released every January. He says, “Our goal has not changed (despite the pressure of a few brands…): to give the worldwide community of designers a powerfull tool to promote themselves!”

The Design and Design adventure is a success that goes on :
-a non-profit project unsponsored and totally independent,
-all year round, free subscriptions and free submissions, no dead lines,
-each day an homepage entirely dedicated to two new designers,
-two separate communities of designers reunified for the first time,
-a unique platform of expression, a great tool for inspiration,
-fresh news, premium ads and selected links (new features)

Illustrative Zurich 2008

Illustrative 2008

René Faßbender dropped us a line to tell us about the upcoming Illustrative exhibition this October in Zurich. René says, “The Illustrative is an art festival for illustrative art, originally from Berlin (last year Paris), it will be now realised with some partners in zurich and Switzerland.”

This is from the official site… “From October 17th to October 26th ILLUSTRATIVE’s 4th forum of illustrative an graphic arts will take place in the Zurich Messehallen. Conceived in 2006 by Pascal Johanssen and Katja Kleiss in Berlin, ILLUSTRATIVE is an annual forum, and the only one of it’s kind worldwide that presents the latest inclinations which run the gamut of illustrative and graphic art in one exhibition.

Illustrative art is fresh, humorous, and easily accessible: the scope of work displayed in ILLUSTRATIVE ranges from psychedelic wall paintings, to erotic neon pop art, while presenting monumental town views, as well as quasi photo-realistic drawings. The special sensitivity to artistic quality and a mix of analogue and digital techniques give a special progressiveness to the illustrative arts. This has decisively influenced the development of contemporary art for some time now.

The latest ILLUSTRATIVE has expanded in comparison to previous years. It now includes a central exhibition, section exhibitions, temporary workshops, and a forum for presentations and conferences.”
