Matt Mitchell
Matt Mitchell emailed me last week but I’m only just getting around to showing his rather nice illustration and graphic wares, so sorry about that Matt! Nice work, make sure you all check it out.
Chris Malborn

Chris Malborn has some nice, diverse work, with a great eye for illustration.
Shen Plum
Cor, that’s some funky illustration from Shen Plum, who got in contact with us over a new portfolio launch.

Kent Lyons have some really good work, which The Serif reminded me of this week.
Demokratica
Dirty Mouse is now over one year old (woot!), so I thought it’d be good to look at what I was looking at this time last year. The portfolio site of Spanish freelance designer Fernando Almodóvar contains some really ace work worth re-aquainting yourself with.
Design Soma’s 2008 compilation cover
August 21, 2008
Hungry for a new design competition? Then this tasty little morsel from Soma might be just what you need.
RA and Soma Quality Recordings are teaming up for a very special design competition, which will see the winner’s work featured on the label’s Soma 2008 Compilation, due out in December. The goal? An exciting idea that captures the vibe of Soma Recordings for the front and back covers of the 2008 compilation.
The deadline for submission is September 6th, 2008 at 6pm GMT. You can get more information and the necessary assets here »

Everything is OK
August 20, 2008
Chris Simmons alerted us to Everything is OK, a project which began in a design studio. Directly off the site is this explanation of the project, “Faced with the mounting inequities in our world and culture, we set out to assemble a list of resources that would point people toward positive action. We launched a simple website (everythingisok.com) as a means of sharing these links. To promote the site, we created barricade tape with the incongruous message “everything is ok.”
“Today, Everything is OK exists as a kind of social design experiment in subversive positivism. It explores the relationship between medium and message, challenges accepted modes of communication, and provides everyday citizens with tools for social commentary.”
